Rafting on river Cetina

The river Cetina is one of the most beautiful places in Croatia where you can experience the excitement of rafting. It is situated in the peaceful countryside of Dalmatinska Zagora region and it i slowly passes through numerous canyons, spots and hills rising above it. River comes out of 5 strong wells at 380 m above the sea, under two mountains, Dinara and Gnjat, few km northern from town Vrlika, from where it flows south-east through the fields of Sinj, town Trilj to Zadvarje, where it turns west to Omiš where it joins the Adriatic Sea.

Ever-faster rhythm of life made the time spent in nature essential for maintaining good health. This need strenghtened the position of eco-tourism and contributed to the promotion of new sports closely related to nature.

25 kilometres from Split and Makarska there is the picturesque town Omiš of the pirates' origin. It is situated at the source of the river Cetina and under the slopes of the mountains Mosor and Dinara. As such, it offers many different activities in the nature starting from walking, cycling, canyoning, free climbing, paragliding, diving, sailing and rafting.
During the high seasons the air temperature amounts up to 30 °C whereas the water temperature reaches 20 °C being thus fit for swimming, hydro massages and etc. The staying at this impressive site makes one to come once more and enjoy the memories that will be preserved by the end of one's life.

If you joined the adventure you could admire wealthy flora and fauna and explore the phenomena of the Dalmatian karst as well as to give a personal contribution towards the river and nature preservation.

Shorts and T-shirts, trekking boots or strong sports' shoes is everything you need during your stay at the river. The rest of the equipment is provided by the organiser. Take the towel, dry clothes and the shoes you will put on after the trip. It is useful to be protected from the sun while at the river. If you want to take pictures, it is recommendable a waterproof camera. It is advisable not to take the valuable objects (jewellery, watches ) and if you wear glasses tight them by the thin rope.

Paintball

One of the most attractive sports in the world. It was devised by American foresters which marked trees for cutting with paint by markers (guns). There are two kinds of paintball - sports and recreational one. The goal of both is to hit members of the opposing team by plastic balls filled with paint and conquer their territory, the flag or the fortification.
This type of recreation is a pleasant connection of the stay in nature and sport, it relieves the player of daily stress, and, more than strength and speed, it demands nimbleness, decisiveness, intelligence and, before all, team work. It can be played by anybody aged over 18, while the body weight, physical condition, and even the old age are not an obstacle. Strength is tested by teams of 3, 5, 7, 10 or more competitors, and every game is different because the directions of the attack are changed, the arrangement of players and the strategy of defense or attack. The basic rules demand the obligatory use of a protective mask, observing the decisions by judges which decide upon all disputable situations. When not playing, the player blocks and puts away the weapon (marker).

Cycling

Split has 8 bicycle paths, which owing to the natural contrast and beauty are the reasons why cyclists say that it is almost impossible to find anywhere else such diversity on such a small area: plains and hills, Mediterranean and continental, rural and urban setting. A combination of these eight paths gives almost countless possibilities, so that one can enjoy the serenity of centuries-old oak-forest and jungle-like areas, summer heat on one of the beautiful beaches along the 70 km long Split riviera.

Diving

The fascinating underwater world is particularly attractive for diving enthusiasts, since the long and indented coastline of the Split riviera abounds in sites ideal for exploring and photography. Rich flora and fauna, as well as numerous underwater caves are the major reason why divers continually return to the Split coastline, whereas a special attraction and challenge are some 30 shipwrecks dating from the two World Wars.

The fact that some 2500 divers are registered in the four SUB centers of the area each year best speaks of the great popularity of this sport on the Split riviera. Aside from diving courses and assistance, the centers provide complete diving equipment, service of filling tanks, all kinds of advice and help in case of accidents.

Fishing

Clean sea, indented coast, island and plenty of shoals are true prerequisites for all types of sports fishing. As a perfect way of relaxing from the daily stress, sports fishing in the waters of Medulin is possible all year round.The fishing rod is ideal for catching dentex and base. The long line is best for catching conger eel and grooper. The necessary fishing gear can be found in all well-equipped shops, whereas the large angle worm known as the best bait is sold by local fishermen.

Windsurfing

70 km of magnificent Split coastline with numerous coves, bays and islets, and wind rose that in all seasons of the year guarantees plenty of favorable days for sailing, are surely the strongest arguments for attracting a large number of sailors. The Split coastline also has a modern marina that provides everything needed for this demanding sport ranging from berths and yacht charter to servicing and gear supply.

Water sports

You can enjoy many sports and water activities. You can swim or take a ride in little boats , peddle boats , gondolas or canoes ...

Those adrenaline addicts will try a wild ride on banana boats and rubber rings , and the bravest ones can enjoy the speed of water scooters ( jet-ski ). You will have the opportunity to enjoy the view from the sky if you go for a ride in a parachute driven by a speedboat .

And the water ski lovers will also have their expectations satisfied.

But diving brings you the most beautiful moments. Guides will take you sightseeing in various underwater localities, and if you don't have your own equipment you can rent it. Various courses are also organised in the scuba diving school.
